Snippets of our journey.

Born in 2020.

At the end of summer 2020, George and Hugo had a vision to open a Nanobrewery and Taproom that would offer an extensive range of modern beer styles to their local area. Over the next few months they began preparing models, drawing plans and formulating ideas.

Acquiring a small site on Pityme Industrial Estate in January 2021, they started with the groundworks and then bought some second hand 40ft containers and started fitting them out into what is now Bluntrock Nanobrewery and Taproom. Brewing began in December 2021, with the attitude of being as diverse and creative as possible with what is brewed.

Bluntrock now have a familiar range of delicious, crushable beers along with exciting, seasonal brews. All of which can be found in our Taproom in Rock.

The Build

The build of the Brewery and Taproom was extremely hands on, with Hugo and George doing most of the construction work themselves (with a few bits done by actual professionals). Although it took a little longer, like the beer they can say it was all made with our their own hands. Within a month of moving onsite, four second hand containers were already being converted. Our Taproom opened on the 4th of August 2021!

The Brewery

All Bluntrock beers are designed, brewed and sold on site. This means there is absolute control over quality and a guarantee the beer will be at its freshest when served. We use Cornish water, traditional English malts from Warminster Maltings, a range of English, European, American and New Zealand hops from Barth Haas hops, fresh liquid yeasts from WHC Lab and a range of local fruits and plants in special brews. All of these ingredients go through our little container brewery to create the beers that you can enjoy in our Taproom only 5 meters away.
